Troop Camping
Troops can spend the day or camp overnight at any of the Council’s 10 camps throughout the spring, fall and winter months. From primitive campsites to climate-controlled cabins, the facilities can meet a wide range of camping experience levels.
Troops can hike, study nature, cook outdoors, and try to find the Big Dipper in a star-filled sky. More specialized activities such as horseback riding, bicycling, ROPES course, sailing and canoeing are available at specific camps upon request and availability.
Families camping must follow the same Girl Scout guidelines as troops/groups and events. A list of standard Girl Scout guidelines (appropriate fuels, rules for conduct, etc.) will be included in the confirmation packet. Adult family members and boys are allowed to sleep in the same unit as girls and female adults. Camp Whispering Pines is currently the only GSSJC property designated for family camping.

Camp Myra S Pryor
The revised campaign still includes major developments for Camp Pryor and will develop its prime real estate on the Colorado River. Our next focus for the camp is building two new cabin clusters that will sleep a total of 98 campers. We are constructing a six-acre lake with shallow areas for swimming and deeper parts that will accommodate a slide or a large flotation device in the future. We are also building a canoe dock on the Colorado River to facilitate girls’ boating instruction. When the Second Century of Leadership Campaign is complete, GSSJC will offer a progressive boating program for girls at Camp Pryor and more than 200 climate-controlled beds for girls to enjoy the property year-round.
